Funky Elegance.

The designs of Timothy Haynes and Kevin Roberts are a mystifying combination of funky minimalism  and elegant sophistication. How did that even happen? The colors that they use truly epitomize groovy, yet they are used in such an adult matter[1] that you can’t help but wonder “how did they do this?” But the amazing duo behind Haynes-Roberts Inc. is probably the reason for the great mixture: having someone to guide you somewhere you’ve never been in the design world make for a great dynamic, and best yet, they’re your partner! Team work really does make the dream work.

Beside the funky feel that some of the colors and pieces give off, there is the perfect balancing effect of simple elegance. Everything that serves as a base material for a room has a profound “finished-ness” including the various floors they do, particularly the marble checker which is quite to die for. The furniture shapes they choose have this great retro quality but come off as modern chic, close-to-but-not-really traditional pieces. Seriously, how do they do it? It’s like they trick you into thinking these interiors are normal. BUT THEY ARE SO NOT NORMAL. I’m coining a new term: funky elegance FTW.
